I just couldn’t leave Amsterdam without grabbing a “Broodje haring” (aka Dutch herring sandwich): raw herring with diced onions and sweet pickles served in a baguette. It might sound like a rather strong mix of flavors, but the taste-buds fully approved. The fish was fresh, and the sweetness of the pickles balanced nicely with the onions.
I recommend trying it out next time you’re in “Venice of the North” (Amsterdam is one of the European cities that holds claim to this title)!
